....Island of Dreams
Mallorca is the largest of the Ballearic Islands of Spain. Quiet, deserted, sandy coves, breathtaking mountain landscapes, peaceful, rolling plains and countryside and spectacular coastlines, not forgetting the wonderful, cosmopolitan capital, Palma.
Palma is a city which is wonderful for exploration. Accessible by car, taxi, train or bus, it is steeped in history, but has a wealth of places to look at, shops to see, magical and spectacular gardens and a fabulous promenade and marina. The open top city bus tour is a must, and if you are of pension age, make sure you have evidence of age - gives you a half price ticket for your hop on/ hop off experience.
We visited this magical island for the first time in 1984 and fell in love with its climate and atmosphere, its people and the wonderful range of things to do for everybody. The island is ideal for families wanting the excitement and facilities of the resorts close to Palma, and couples and individuals love the location for walking, touring, boating and yachting, mountain climbing !!!, or simply lazing around on a gorgeous beach under blue skies and sunshine. Villa Novo Puerto is our much loved and highly valued second home situated in the resort of Cala Mendia, which is part of Porto Cristo Novo, approximately four kilometres from the delightful coastal resort and old town of Porto Cristo.
The property is within walking distance of two gorgeous, sandy beaches, Cala Mendia and Cala Anguila and all the amenities of the resort – shops, bars, restaurants and a bank are conveniently located. The very luxurious and well appointed Club Mendia Hotel is close by and many of the facilities such as horse riding, tennis, scuba diving etc. are available for visitors to enjoy on payment of any appropriate fees.
Access to Porto Cristo town from Cala Mendia is very easy either by local bus, the (May to October only) land train, or by taxi.
Porto Cristo is approximately one hour from Palma Airport (59 kms) and is reached by very good roads, much of which is on a very safe and excellent dual carriageway. There are no 'hair-raising' hilly or mountain roads and most of the route by-passes local towns and villages.
Car hire is not an essential requirement during the summer season, unless one is interested in getting out and about to experience this really beautiful island with its wonderful and varied scenery and landscape. We can, however, arrange car hire, including pick-up and return ex Palma Airport with our long established English owned car hire company, Intacar.
We can also arrange taxi transfers with our associates in Mallorca, an English speaking taxi company based just a couple of kilometres from Porto Cristo.
Changeover day for Villa Novo Puerto is ideally on Saturdays, but because of the advent of low cost airlines flying every day to Mallorca, we are more than happy to consider flexible changeover days at any time of the year. Just tell us your preferences and we will do our best to accommodate your requirements.
